Well, so much for not worrying about light packing. I had planned and made arrangements to get picked up at the Calgary Airport, So I wouldn’t have to travel and take taxies and buses to Fairmont. Well after paying extra at London airport for an overweight bag of 84 pounds, and my snowboard, I arrived in Calgary, only to find out that: A – my ride isn’t there to get me, and B – my luggage is wrecked. After waiting almost 3 hours at Calgary Airport, I call Ontario to get my emails checked. Sure enough there was an email from Martin saying he’s not coming. By the way, WHO CHECKS THEIR EMAIL WHILE THEY’RE FLYING??? Thanks Martin. So, what to do now? Well, luckily I had by chance gotten in touch with Meghan Thomson before I had left, just incase the roads were closed or something. So I called her up and she so gracriuly let me stay the night and hang out. Great to have old friends around in situations like that. Cudios Megs!
So I tok the $30.00 cab ride to her house and hugn out. Luckily she also didn’t have school the next day. So we just hung out with her roommates and chatted. I went for a walk and then headed to the bus station in another cab. Oh with all my luggage, it’s so much fun moving it all around.
So, there I was finally on the Grey hound on my way to Fairmont, with a mass amount of luggage, all alone. So lesson of travelling alone… don’t do it, or Pack light for any event that may occur. ONLY PACK ESSENTIALS.
Til next time, keep reading my online journal, for the day in the life of the BC Traveller.
